I just updated my sermons since the middle of March. Sorry for the delay, but I've had computer and internet issues in the office. Click on the "Learn More" button to access sermons.
The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet” I just corrected my post from yesterday. Leviticus 19:18, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” is the most quoted scripture in Matthew’s gospel, but Psalm 110:1-4 is the most quoted passage in the New Testament. We’ve noted the parallel between these questions and the Jewish tradition of children asking questions at the Passover. There’s a fourth child, who does not know what to ask, therefore the father prompts the child with a question to make all the children think. Jesus takes that role now, challenging his inquisitors to think about something that they had obviously not thought about: who is the lord of David, whom God tells to sit at his right hand. Imagine how Jesus felt about this passage. What David prophesied had not yet happened. In his sermon on the Day of Pentecost, the Apostle Peter applied this passage to the ascension of Jesus into heaven after his resurrection. Jesus knew that the cross was right before him, but he looked beyond it to something glorious. Looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)
Looking forward to a special day tomorrow. First, Sierra Hillsdale will bring the morning message at Cornerstone, then we will travel to DFW for our first service with a group of believers there. Our worship theme will be the description of the early church that formed on the first Pentecost after the resurrection of Jesus, "They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers."
Kegan Chandler's talk, "An Expanded History of Trinitarianism and Its Consequences," is now available for download. Clicking the "Learn More" button gives you access to Cornerstone sermons. Click on the 2018 folder, and you will find Kegan's talk, divided into three parts.
Thanks to all who participated in our Heritage Sunday. First to Kegan Chandler for an excellent presentation. A special thanks to Kathy Ford, Sierra Hillsdale, Carolina, Beth and Christian for providing a special program for the children during the afternoon program. As pastor, I really enjoy having other folks see the way God has blessed us at Cornerstone.
Looking forward to Heritage Day at Cornerstone. Our special guest will be Kegan Chandler. Kegan has done considerable research into the history of Christian doctrine. We hope this day will be an encouragement for our congregation in better understanding our roots, a chance to fellowship with those connected with us throughout Texas, and a chance for our community to understand our perspective of Jesus as the son of God, savior, Israel's Messiah, and the coming king of this earth. Kegan will share his faith story during the Sunday School hour. Pastor Greg Demmitt will speak in our morning worship on the topic, "Upon this rock: the Christ, the son of the Living God. Kegan A. Chandler is a Christian author and the co-founder of theGodofJesus.com online ministry, and is the author of the 2016 book, 'The God of Jesus in Light of Christian Dogma.' He currently serves on the Board of Directors for New Life Ministries of America, Inc., a small family-run ministry which provides Bibles and financial assistance for overseas missions. A graduate of SCAD University, and a graduate student in Campbellsville University's School of Theology, he is also an adjunct instructor at Atlanta Bible College. In addition to the GodOfJesus website, he also writes for his blog on Church History, and will soon be publishing a new book on Emperor Constantine. He currently lives with his wife and sons in Houston, TX, where he has led a small house church for several years.

You can follow this link to listen to the funeral service for Dorothy McCorkle. I think it was quite a tribute as many shared how she impacted their lives. I am truly glad I came here 10 years ago when Dorothy was a vital 80-year-old, always ready to go for a ride with the new preacher. When Karen arrived in 2010, Dorothy came by almost every day for a trip around the Texas countryside. We really appreciate the way she welcomed us to Gatesville.https://drive.google.com/open?id=15QnQbNOG98g0xVuNlvG5NrKOrizF2iAF

Living in the Last Days? Without a doubt the anticipated return of Jesus to set up his Kingdom inspired the early church, yet it has been centuries since Jesus was exalted to the heavens. At 11 am on Sunday, Pastor Greg will share his own journey as one who anticipates the return of our Lord as we resume our study of 1 Thessalonians.
Please note that our services on Dec 24 and 31 will be at 10:30. We will not have Sunday School on those days.
